Building Your Foundation

Code Platoon Prep

Code Platoon Prep helps you build the core skills and confidence you need to start your cohort ready and prepared.

Code Platoon Prep: Building Your Foundation for Day One

As you move toward the start of your cohort, Code Platoon Prep gives you a clear on-ramp into the tools and concepts you’ll rely on throughout the program. It’s designed to help you enter the classroom with a shared foundation — whether the material feels familiar, brand new, or a mix of both. This early preparation makes the transition into your cohort smoother and helps you feel confident in the pace and expectations of the program.

Each lesson includes a short instructional video paired with hands-on practice. You’ll complete exercises directly in the course player using our custom code editor. Even if the topic is something you’ve seen before, we encourage you to work through each exercise — repetition helps reinforce essential habits that will support you throughout the program.

Most lessons take around 45 minutes, and you can move through them at a pace that fits your schedule. Taking your time is fine, but it’s helpful not to save everything for the last minute. Starting early gives you space to revisit areas that might need more practice so you feel grounded and prepared by the time your cohort begins.

Checking Your Readiness

At the end of Code Platoon Prep, you’ll complete a short, 20-question multiple-choice quiz. The goal is to confirm that you’re ready to step into your cohort with a solid foundation, and a score of 70% or higher is required before the program begins. You can take the quiz as many times as you’d like, and each attempt gives you helpful feedback on where to focus your practice. Many enrolling participants find that reviewing their answers and revisiting earlier modules strengthens their understanding and boosts their confidence heading into Day One.

Looking Ahead

By the time your cohort starts, you’ll have built meaningful familiarity with core programming ideas and the tools you’ll use in the classroom. This preparation supports your confidence, helps you understand the rhythm of coding, and gives you a clearer sense of how to approach problem-solving once you’re in the full program.

There’s no expectation of perfection — progress and consistency matter most. Every step you take here moves you forward and helps you enter your cohort with a stronger, more comfortable foundation.
